TECHNICAL DATA SHEET
Sodium Lignosulfonate Dust Control Grade
Product Description
Sodium Lignosulfonate (Sodium Lignosulphonate) is a naturally derived, highly effective anionic surfactant and high-molecular-weight biopolymer. Presented as a fully water-soluble yellow-brown powder, it is rich in sulfonic and carboxylic groups. Leveraging its natural colloidal structure and inherent sugar content, this specific grade is optimized to provide superior dust suppression and soil stabilization.

Mechanism of Action: How It Controls Dust
When dissolved in water and applied to dusty surfaces, the moisture evaporates, leaving behind a high-viscosity, naturally tacky binder. This organic adhesive aggressively traps and binds loose particulate matter. Upon curing in the sunlight, it forms a hardened, water-resistant, and highly durable surface crust that locks in dust for extended periods.
Key Applications
- Road Dust Suppression: Highly effective for treating unpaved roads, mining haul roads, industrial yards, and other high-dust environments.
- Industrial Binder: Acts as a cost-effective, environmentally friendly binding agent for pelletizing or compressing bulk industrial materials.
- General Dispersant: Can be utilized as a dispersing agent for fodder, wettable pesticides, dyes, carbon black, and other insoluble solid/liquid formulations.
Features & Benefits
- Environmentally Friendly: A sustainable, non-toxic, and biodegradable alternative to harsh, corrosive chloride-based chemicals.
- Regulatory Compliance: Effectively reduces airborne particulate matter to meet strict PM10 air quality standards.
- Highly Versatile: Provides excellent binding capacity across a wide variety of soil profiles and aggregate types.
- Ecologically Safe: Can be applied safely in environmentally sensitive areas—including near waterways, trees, orchards, and agricultural land—without causing pollution.
Application Guidelines
- Topical Application Rate: The recommended standard dosage is 0.3 to 0.5 gallons of prepared solution per square yard. (Note: Optimal application rates and dilution ratios may vary based on soil composition, traffic volume, and localized climate conditions).
